PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

As an accredited ITT provider, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent & Medway Training (KMT), a division of Leigh Academies Trust, are delivering the Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE
The occupation covered by this apprenticeship standard is that of a teacher of pupils from 3 – 19 years. Teachers can be employed in a variety of settings across England. Teachers make the education of their pupils their first concern and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. Teachers demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct; have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills as teachers up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships and work with parents/guardians in the best interests of their pupils.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics;

For those who intend to train to teach pupils aged 3 to 11, have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 in the GCSE examination in a science subject;

QUALIFICATIONS
Achievement of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – awarded by the Department for Education – will be a mandatory requirement for apprentices’ successful completion of the course
DURATION
The apprenticeship will typically be 12 months in duration plus end point assessment (with 12 months as the minimum length).
